Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and Canada’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Pierre Giroux, welcomed the visiting delegation from the Caribbean Leadership Programme (CLP) and local and regional participants, l
ast evening.
The project is supported by the Government of Canada. It aims to train top level managers and Permanent Secretaries of Government in leadership and development and other functional areas. Twelve countries are participating in the training.
At a reception held at the official residence of the Canadian High Commissioner, Bel Air, Georgetown, the Prime Minister said continuous training and development of public servants is critical to the country’s overall advancement.
Meanwhile, Canadian High Commissioner Giroux thanked the Guyana Government for its partnership in the training programme.
Also present were Minister of State Joseph Harmon; Permanent Secretary of the Department of Public Service Reginald Brotherson; other Permanent Secretaries; President of the Guyana Public Service Union, Patrick Yarde, and members of the diplomatic corps among others.
