Mike’s Wellman, Albion, 4R Lioness and Wellwoman registered victories when the Wolf’s Challenge softball cup continued on Sunday at Malteenoes Sports Club.
Mike’s Wellman defeated Superior Woods by six wickets. Batting first, Superior Woods got to 145-9 off 20 overs with Mohamed Rafeek scoring 33, Rudy Mayers 27 and Rudolph Rodrigues 22. Latchman Kallicharran, Nandram Samlall and Greg De Franca picked up two wickets each. Wellman responded with 146-4 in 15.1 overs. De Franca scored 39, Ron Ramnauth 31 and Samlall 22. Mark Fung claimed 2-24 and Ryan Singh 2-27.
Albion Masters overcame HS Masters by one wicket. HS Masters took first strike and made 102-9 in 20 overs. Danny Mohanram scored 29 and H. Badasse 16; Shilwah Grant grabbed 4-13 while Vidian De Silva had 3-17. Albion responded with 103-9 in 19.3 overs. Ishwar Heralall made 25, Azeem Samaroo 15 and V. Monsammy 14. Hanoman Singh bagged 4-14, Sookdeo Lakhan 2-17 and Manoj Arjune 2-20.
In the female category, 4R Lioness beat Lady Jags by 19 runs. 4R Lioness took first turn at the crease and posted 111-5 in 15 overs. Kaysia Schultz hit 36 and Akaze Thompson 31; M. Taitt took two wickets. Lady Jags were bowled out for 92 in 12 overs in reply. Sandika Shawh made 19 as Shyan Goodluck claimed three wickets and Gangadai Singh two.
Wellwoman thumped Enterprise Divas by 10 wickets. Enterprise were skittled for 19, taking first strike; Zola Telford picked up four wickets. Wellwoman responded with 20 without loss in two overs. (Zaheer Mohamed)
