A “drug addict” was killed after he was allegedly stabbed to the abdomen by another man during a heated argument at Bourda and Alexander Streets, Georgetown.
The dead man has been identified as Omesh Chetram, 34, of Unity, East Bank Demerara.
Police in a statement said they are investigating the alleged murder which occurred sometime between 23:30hrs on Saturday and 01:30hrs yesterday morning.
So far, investigations have revealed that the deceased and a male were involved in an argument, during which the suspect stabbed him in the lower region of his abdomen with a knife and escaped. Chetram was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Kaieteur News understands that Chetram was a drug addict and did odd jobs around the Bourda Market to sustain his habit. Police are currently on the hunt for the suspect who has since been identified.
