There has been a slight change to the basketball programme set for today as the A. Ally and Sons first division basketball competition continues in Berbice.
The game between Rose Hall Town Jammers and New Amsterdam Warriors will not be played due to the fact that the Rose hall Town Warriors team will be engaged in a supporting match on an international card in Georgetown featuring Bounty Colts of Guyana and the visiting Earem Basketball team from Suriname. The Jammers will play Pepsi Sonics on the under card.
The game today will now see New Amsterdam Warriors taking on the Guyana Human Development Centre (GHDC) instead at the GHDC court Tain, Corentyne, Berbice from 16:00hrs.
The six-team competition has seen the teams being divided into two groups with group ‘A’ comprising of Smithfield Rockers, Fyrish Black Sharks and Ithaca Hardliners of West Berbice.
The teams making up group ‘B’ are Rose Hall Town Jammers, Guyana Human Development Centre of Corentyne and New Amsterdam Warriors.
The teams in each group will play each other once with the top two advancing to play the top two in the other group. The winners will advance to the semifinals.
Matches in the tournament are being held every Sunday.
Cash, trophies and other incentives will be presented to the top three teams with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and other outstanding individual performers being awarded.
The Coordinator is Vibert Garrett. (Samuel Whyte)
