Guyana’s lone gold medallist at the recent Caribbean Pre Cadet Table Tennis Championship has
secured a scholarship to attend one of the country’s leading private schools. Kaysan Ninvalle has been offered a five year scholarship at the prestigious Chase Academy secondary school located in Kingston.
Owner and principal of the institution Henry Chase said yesterday that he was moved by the performance of the young racquet wielder and felt it his duty to provide an avenue for academic excellence.
“Our institution prides itself on producing well rounded individuals and it is apposite that our sportsmen and women are also academically inclined. There was absolutely no difficulty in coming to the decision of granting this scholarship to young Kaysan Ninvalle as it is our belief that he will excel in both arenas,” Chase said.
Chase Academy has produced some of Guyana’s top young footballers and cricketers and has ruled the Digicel School’s football competition with an iron fist. “Sports and academics must go hand in hand and I hope that through this gesture we can find many more institutions doing the same,” the principal added.
Chase Academy is the third entity to throw support behind the recently crowned Caribbean 11 and Under champion since his return from Jamaica.
On Monday, corporate giants Gizmos and Gadgets presented a Samsung Galaxy S7 to the 11-year-old in recognition of his performance, while on Friday Colours Boutique and Dexter ‘Bushman’ Garnett presented tennis sneakers to the national 11 and Under and 13 and Under champion.
