Lenovo customers in Guyana had a rare opportunity to meet and interact with officials from the company’s head office recently during a workshop at STARR Computer Incorporated.
Lenovo is the world’s largest computer manufacturer and STARR Computer Inc. is an authorized business partner and service centre.
Customers were introduced to a whole new line of products and the local Information Technology (IT) experts had a chance to give feedback about their experience with the brand thus far.
Lenovo Ambassador and Brand Manager, Garret Dugger and the company’s Territory Executive, William Garcia informed the attendees about the company’s new product line and the plans they have in the pipeline for the future.
Kaieteur News was told that officials from the company have been traveling and meeting with their partners and customers in North America.
The locals who attended were among officials from Republic Bank, the Private Sector Commission and government ministries.
Attendees were introduced to the wide range of Lenovo’s portfolio under the theme – The Power of One.
Lenovo, according to the International Data Corporation, is rated as the Largest Personal Computer Company worldwide. The company has maintained this status for over three years.
According to Mr. Dugger, the success of Lenovo is attributed to its expanding portfolio and customer-centric vision.
He said that based on surveys, Lenovo ThinkPad Laptops are the most reliable laptops manufactured. The company’s portfolio covers Mobile, Personal Computers and Servers.
On display were Lenovo Tiny computers— a powerful, yet small computer that businesses are now deploying to replace the older desktop systems which were not as energy efficient and had a larger footprint.
Attendees were amazed at the Lenovo X1 Carbon line of mobile computers which are specially engineered systems that are sleek and ultra-light in weight and powerful. They allow for a detachable keyboard and removable hard-drive for security reasons.
It was emphasised that Lenovo manufactures servers for Small Business to very large Data Centres used in oil and gas, health, finance and education sectors. They are noted for high quality and reliability.
In an invited comment, Mike Mohan, President of STARR Computer said that the company has been providing IT solutions in Guyana for over two decades and chose its partnership with Lenovo based on the company’s vision, quality of products, and most importantly, the unmatched training and technical support.
STARR Computer offers a wide portfolio of Lenovo products ranging from Consumer Equipment to Corporate Solutions.
Lenovo is the largest manufacturer in the world with 22% percent of shares in the market, followed by HP, then Dell with 15%.
Mohan explained that Lenovo is responding to demands in Guyana and has partnered with STARR to make expensive computers more affordable.
Forecasting a boom and eventual growth with the economy in the near future, Mohan said STARR Computer works closely with Lenovo because of massive technology developments which can benefit all scale of clients from a small business right up to corporate clients and the government.
Mohan said that as Lenovo expands globally, the company established even deeper roots in each major market, investing not only in sales and distribution, but also in local domestic manufacturing, research and development and other high-value functions.
This global reach enables the company to implement a foundation for long-term success.
The equipment presented at the event was available for demonstration and resale at STARR Computer.
