The Caribbean Badminton International Open Under-19 Championships (CAREBACO) concluded in Aruba on Sunday at the Centro Deportivo Sports Hall with the Guyana team securing six medals.
The Guyanese 3-Member Team consisting of SUNBURST Narayan Ramdhani, Jonathan Mangra and Priyanna Ramdhani claimed 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals after four days battling with players from Dominican Republic, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba and Suriname.
Overall results are:
Narayan Ramdhani- 2 Silvers (Boys Doubles & Mixed Doubles) & 1 Bronze (Singles)
Priyanna Ramdhani-1 Silver (Mixed Doubles) & 1 Bronze (Singles)
Jonathan Mangra- 1 Bronze
In the Finals played Sunday, Narayan Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani lost to Shae Martin & Amanda Haywood of Barbados: 21-9, 21-16 in Mixed Doubles.
In the Boys Doubles Finals Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra lost to Shae Martin & Keshem Moore of Barbados in a thrilling three setter with Guyana winning the first set and loosing the 2nd and 3rd games: 17-21, 21-15, 21-19.
The Guyana Badminton Association is expressing thanks Mohamed’s Enterprise, Republic Bank, NSC, BK International, Hand in Hand Insurance, Crown Mining, Gio Tech and Cosmopolitan Trading for their assistance to ensure the team traveled to Aruba.
The Guyana 4-Member Team of Narayan Ramdhani, Jonathan Mangra, Priyanna Ramdhani & Ambika Ramraj will now be participating in the Team Events which started yesterday. Guyana is placed in Group B with Barbados and Aruba, while Group A consists of Dominican Republic, Suriname & Trinidad & Tobago.
