Reigning Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) champions Eagles United and Milerock recorded wins when the GFF / NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association League kicked off at the Wisburg Secondary School ground on Saturday last.
Eagles easily kept their billing as the best intact and their quest to add the GFF/NAMILCO title to their collection when they disposed of Silver Shattas 2-0 in the feature match. Javier Smith and Jamal Allicock were the goal scorers for Eagles.
In the competition’s opening match, Milerock sailed to victory over long time rivals Topp XX 4-1 on account of goals from Tyrese Lewis who achieved the first double of the league, while there was a goal each for Lorenzo Miller and Carlton Jones.
Action will continue on Wednesday at the same venue when Eagles will be going after their second win in as many matches in their clash with Amelia’s Ward Panthers. Milerock will also be aiming to keep a clean sheet when they oppose Botafago.
