The Guyana Police Force continues to make progress in building public trust through its many community based initiatives.
One such initiative which continues to bear fruit is the Social Crime Prevention Initiative which is being sustained and enhanced by Divisional Commanders in the seven Policing Divisions.
This initiative aims to bring the Police and communities together by enhancing their relationship, and in a more focused sense, tackle crime at a grassroot stage whilst providing support for the social and educational development of youths across Guyana.
Recently in ‘F’ Division (Regions One, Seven, Eight and Nine) members of the business community supplied the members of the Guyana Police Force Under-15 Football team which is based in Bartica, with a generous amount of sports equipment to the value of $200,000.
Additionally on August 28, 2016, there will be the Closing Ceremony for an August programme which was held at the Bartica and Agatash Community Centers.
These attracted in excess of 129 youths from Bartica and nearby communities.
The youths were engaged in learning life skills. They produced art and craft and floral arrangements and they were exposed to many interactive sessions where they were given morale- boosting pep talks on maintaining healthy lifestyles.
They were encouraged to be positive role models and to use their energies in a positive and productive manner.
