Action in the second annual Andrew ‘Six-Heads’ Lewis Novices Boxing Championships
punches off this evening and will run until Sunday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. The action starts at 19:00hrs nightly and the competition will feature fights in both Male and Female categories.
The young boxers have been preparing at their respective gyms and are eager to get into action. They were involved in the weigh-in and doing medical exercises yesterday at the Six-Heads Gym in Albouystown.
The championships involve 11 gyms from all three counties and keen competition is anticipated among the young fighters over the three nights.
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will be keen to mount a successful defence of their title in a tournament which has attracted over 60 young pugilists.
Two Gyms from Essequibo, Rose Hall Town from Berbice, two Gyms from the Mining Town of Linden and six from the other parts of Demerara will participate.
Admission is $500, while children will be admitted free.
