Bids were opened yesterday at the Ministry of Finance’s National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB). Among the projects which bidders vied for was a contract to upgrade the Diamond Hospital on the East Bank of Demerara, Region Four. The contract will be executed under the Ministry of Public Health. The engineer’s estimate was $24M.
The Ministry, through its Regional Health Services Department, had recently announced plans to upgrade several health facilities. This was deemed necessary because of the amount of patients being referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Under the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, there was a contract for the maintenance of roads in Bartica, Region Seven. The project was divided into two lots.
Lot one was for geometric repairs to the four corners junction at Bartica, Region Seven. Lot two was for the maintenance of the back road at Byderabo, Bartica. The engineer’s estimate for lot one was $22.6M, while the estimate for lot two was $15.3M.
There was also a contract under the Ministry of Public Infrastructure for road repair works for the ‘All- Weather Road’ at Yukuriba Falls, Region number 10. The engineer’s estimate was $66.7M.
The Ministry of Education also put out a contract for the procurement of teachers tablets, mini servers, routers, printers, digital cameras and charging cabinets.
Under the Guyana Livestock Development Authority, there was a contract for the construction and delivery of one Cattle Barge at Ebini, Region 10. The engineer’s estimate was $19.9M.
There was also a contract for resurfacing works to be conducted in the compound of the Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs. The engineer’s estimate was $4.2M.
And finally, under the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), there was a contract for the procurement of office cubicles.
