Fifteen year old Yannick Schultz of Number Eight Village,West Coast Berbice, is in a critical condition in the Georgetown Hospital after being struck by a car on Saturday afternoon.
According to the child’s mother, she received a call at approximately 13.30 hrs on from someone who said her son was involved in an accident.
Schultz, who is a student of the Fort Wellington Secondary School, was reportedly cycling along the Number Three Public Road when a car struck him.
He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he received attention before being transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
He was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Hospital, and his condition, according to his mother, is said critical.
The police have detained the driver.
