The Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) through its coach and Organising Secretary, Randolph Roberts continues to keep the sport of cycling on the move in Berbice as it organise yet another cycling event in the ancient county. The club will tomorrow stage the 11th Annual Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) cycle road race along the Corentyne Coast.
The 50-mile event will see the cyclists riding off from in front of the Bank at Corriverton and journey to Adventure on the Corentyne Coast before returning to its place of origin. The race which is for Berbicians only is expected to see all the top cyclists from Berbice participating.
Defending champions Romello Crawford is expected to face stiff challenge from the rest of the field.
Prizes which will include trophies cash and other incentives will be awarded to the first six finishers in the open category.
There will also be incentives for the top junior category, top female top veteran and juvenile riders. A number of prime point prizes will also be awarded.
The race will be started by officials of the bank who will also be on hand to present prizes to the winners. Randolph Roberts is the coordinator. (Samuel Whyte)
