The second annual Andrew ‘Six-Heads’ Lewis Novices Boxing Championships, which was originally set to commence today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH), has been shifted to start next Friday and run until Sunday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. The event involves 11 gyms from all three Counties and keen competition is anticipated among the young fighters over the three nights.
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will be keen to mount a successful defence of their title in a tournament which has attracted over 60 pugilists.
The action is set to start at 19:00hrs nightly and the boxers will conduct their weigh-in and medicals next Thursday at 17:00hrs at the Six-Heads Gym in Albouystown. The competition will feature action in both Male and Female categories.
Two Gyms from Essequibo, Rose Hall Town from Berbice, two Gyms from the Mining Town of Linden and six the other parts of Demerara will participate. Admission is $500, while children will be admitted free.
