Roshandin Mohamed, Vieira, Doekie and Deodass impress
Shairaz Roshandin Mohamed in a Honda Civic produced a daring drive down the backstretch in the 7th lap of 10 to beat Ryan Rahaman in one of the most exciting races of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) Day & Night Meet which was held under floodlights yesterday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Rahaman, who drove a Ford Escort controlled the race from the start and opened a sizeable lead over the first six and a half laps, before Roshandin Mohamed slowly, but surely reduced the gap and passed him around the back straights and held the advantage until the chequered flag was lowered to signal victory.
In a few other results, before more lights were summoned, Matthew Vieira dominated the Superbike race with a superb ride to win by a large margin.
Hemand Budram came home second, while young Kevin Persaud held off a stiff challenge from Andy Rajkaran to take third.
Also in winners row were Motielall Deodass in a Group 2 race and he beat Rafeek Khan into second place, while Daniel Deokie won ahead of Shameer Mohamed and Troy Muir in that order in another Group 2 race. Up to press time no other race result was available.
