Sir Leon’s Lessons marched into the national playoffs of the Digicel Schools Football Championship in grand style yesterday afternoon following a commanding 15-0 drubbing of Lodge Secondary School at the GDF ground.
A six goal blitz from Kiefer Brandt, a helmet-trick from David George and a double off the boot of Sylvester Richardson crafted a huge win for Sir Leon’s Lessons which led 5-0 at the half way mark.
It was a lackluster and in some instances undisciplined performance from the Lodge Secondary lads which ended the match with nine players following red cards to Isaiah Peters in the 68th minute and Mark Reece in the 72nd.
Simeon Hackett started in goal for Lodge and stood firm in the opening minutes as he controlled the defenders in the face of early attacking runs from Sir Leon’s Lessons which came with a plan to decimate their opponents and that they achieved in the end.
The writing was on the wall from the 12th minute when George blasted a powerful right foot shot from just outside the six yards in the direct path of Hackett who got a touch of the ball but only assisted it into the back of the nets as he kept without a pair of gloves.
Thereafter it was constant practice for the Referee and his assistants as they pointed regularly to the centre following the scoring of a goal. George was on target again in the 24th, 39th and 55th minute.
Brandt ravaged the nets in the 33rd, 45th, 53rd, 61st, 85th and 87th minute; Richardson tucked in his pair in the 71st and 80th minute.
There was one each for Adrian Aaron in the 63rd, Jaleel Lancelot in the 65th and Jaleel Evans in the 78th minute.
Lodge were never a threat to their opponents which controlled play at their own pace from the first whistle.
For their efforts, Sir Leon’s Lessons were presented with a spanking new set of uniforms as well as medals and a trophy for being the top team in the South Georgetown Zone.
