The squad is coming together ahead of the opening away game against St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots in St Kitts on June 30 said Guyana Amazon Warriors Coach Roger Harper ahead of the start of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) campaign.
The former West Indies Vice-Captain, who claimed 46 wickets, scored three fifties from 25 Tests and has 100 wickets from 105 ODI’s for the Regional team.
The 6ft, 5 inch off-spinning all-round returns ‘Warriors’ Coach for a second time, replacing fellow Guyanese and West Indies batsman Carl Hooper who did the job last year.
The training camp got underway on Monday at Providence and with skipper Martin Guptill and Adam Zampa due to join the team in St Kitts, Harper said the squad is building towards their CPL opener.
“We’re building on teamwork this week so the guys can get to know each other better and come together as a team and working with and for each other,” the former Guyana Captain said.
Harper disclosed that Sohail Tanvir arrived on Tuesday evening and Dwayne Smith yesterday morning.
“I think we have a pretty good all round squad. It’s a Twenty20 format and these guys have got the skills for the Twenty20 format, so it’s all about how well we can play collectively as a team and on each match day. After the camp we go straight off to St. Kitts for the competition,” disclosed the 53-year-old Harper who scored 10 tons and captured 567 wickets from 200 First-Class games.
