Although the mega activity is over a month away a number of sponsors have already come on board for the Annual Guyana Cup Horserace meet organized by the Jumbo jet Business Establishment. This is a decade for the

The event, which is staged in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club, is arguably one of the biggest sporting events in Guyana and is slated for Sunday 14th August at the Port Mourant Turf Club, beginning at 12:00hrs.

Once again the feature event is for animals classified “A” and lower with a mouthwatering winning prize of $4M and the Guyana Cup Trophy from a total package of $8M over 1600M. The other placers in that event will also be handsomely rewarded.

The Two year old event for West Indies Bred horses, which has its first prize tagged at $1M and trophy, will be run over 1000M.
The E class and lower 1300M event will see the winner racing away with the $1M top prize and trophy on offer. The G3 and lower race is also a 1300M event where the winning horse will run away with $700,000 and trophy.
Horses classified H and lower will have an opportunity to race for a winning pocket of $500,000 and trophy over 1400M. There is an event for animals classified J and K and lower with a pole position taking of $350,000 over 1100M.

According to organizer Nazrudeen ‘Jumbo Jet” Mohammed Jnr a number of new features and initiatives will be added to the event this year as race day draws closer.
