Reigning title holders Christianburg / Wismar sent an ominous warning to pretenders to their throne
that they are just as strong as in previous years when they inflicted a 7-0 drubbing on Linden Foundation in the Digicel Schools Football Championship yesterday, at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
The defending champion was always in control from the start and was led to victory by a hat-trick from Brian Johnson, who fired in a treble in the 15th, 16th and 25th minutes, while support came from Keshawn Dey (2nd), Hubert Adams (47th), Omar Brewley (58th) and Shaquille Campbell (70th).
Dey started the rut as early as the second minute when he was left unmarked in the penalty area following a scrimmage from a corner and he lashed his effort past the goalkeeper.
Johnson became the next player to trouble the scoresheet after leaping high in the air to deliver a rapier-like header past the keeper from a cross from the left side.

One minute later he was back in action this time unleashing a fierce right-footer from center-field that scurried past a host of defenders and the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
Things went from bad to worse for Linden Foundation as they conceded another goal and guess who it was, the effervescent Johnson, who raced on to a fumbled saved from the goalkeeper to punch into an empty net to make it 4-0 in the opening period.
The champs continued to attack with fervour, but Linden Foundation defence held firm, not allowing any more goals before the half time whistle sounded.
In the second period, Christianburg / Wismar continued where they left off and stretched their lead two minutes after the resumption when Adams netted a penalty after an infringement in the box to make it 5-0.
Mid-field maestro Brewley, who had squandered a few chances, came into the act and fired in the sixth goal as Christianburg / Wismar seemed intent on sending a stern warning to any team with the ambition to dethrone them.

Campbell then put the seal on the deal with a thunderous strike following a cross from the left flank that he raced on to which finished at the back of the net.
