It will be a battle of wits and experience with some younger minds in the mix when the inaugural Stag
Elite League FINALE final is contested this evening between GENESIS winners Slingerz FC who is chasing the double when they oppose Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United from 21:00hrs at the Leonora Track and Field Facility football field.
Alpha, the last league winners and Guyana’s most successful club at the Caribbean and International level have indicated through their Head Coach Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover that they are not just yet ready to give up their status as local champs and will be going all out to spoil Slingerz party tonight.
While Head Coach of Slingerz Joseph ‘Bill’ Wilson is more reserved in naming who will make up his starting line-up for this big clash which will see the winner pocketing $4M, Dover has indicated that he will be throwing out a mixture of experience and youth while relying on his tested, tried and proven players to deliver the big prize.
The likes of Anthony ‘Awo’ Abrams, Captain Dwight Peters, Dawin Jacobs, Kris Comacho, Philbert Moffat, Andrew Murray, goalkeeper Richie Richards are the experienced players along with the younger brigade, Daniel Wilson, Delon Lanferman, Colin Nelson, William Europe and
Alex Murray will lend support to Alpha’s challenge.
Slingerz, which will hope that their fans will come out in their numbers to urge them on, will rely on the likes of Captain Tichard Joseph, Trayon Bobb, Vurlon Mills, Devon Millington, Domini Garnett,
Les Charles Critchlow, Kestor Jacobs, Murilo Barbosa, Winslow Mc Dowall, Kithson Bain and Gideon Payne to deliver the crown for them. The loser will be rewarded with $2M.
The third-place clash between Pele and Fruta Conquerors is anticipated to produce much fireworks as the final with cash prizes of $1M and $500,000 at stake for the winner and loser. Conquerors will be disappointed that the momentum that propelled them earlier in the Finale dipped somewhat in the latter stages but will be seeking to end the season on a high.
Pele on the other hand will be pumped up with the news that three of their main weapons, Gregory Richardson, Travis Grant and Omalo Williams have been cleared by the Disciplinary Committee of the GFF to play today.
Match these players with Captain Konata Manning, Shemroy Arthur, Jermaine Fordyce, Runnel Gordon, Shemroy Arthur, Mark Mc Lean and Tevin Crawford, Pele can be a destructive bunch on the day and will certainly be going all out to cut down Conquerors tonight.
Conquerors though, have shown the knack to put away the best of the best and once they are 100% fit, that task would not be beyond them. They will hope that Jahall Greaves, Trevon Lythcott, Shaquelle Agard, Derrick Carter, Eon Alleyne, Adrian Adonis, Reshawn Sandiford, Jermaine Junor and Delon Williams can deliver a final win and in style come this evening from 19:00hrs.
