-Saints, Marian, Roses, PC through to U-14 Final Four
Marian Academy, St. Roses High School, President’s College (PC) and Government Technical Institute (GTI) have reached the semi-final of the National Schools’ Basketball Festival (NSBF) in the Under-19 category at the
Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Marian defeated Plaisance Secondary 50-38 with Jonathan Mangra scoring 15 points with six rebounds and Jordan Alphonso 10 points and seven rebounds. Akili Haynes scored nine points in the game for Marian Academy.
For Plaisance, Andrew Johnson had another solo effort with 19 points.
St. Roses High thrashed Tutorial High 73-33 with Shamar Huntley putting up 15 points and four rebounds and Leon Ross 10 points and six rebounds. For Tutorial, Dequan Manning had 18 points and five rebounds.
Presidents’ College squeezed pass St. Stanislaus College 41-38 with Kadeem Peterkin scoring 11 points and Jahleel Duke 10 points. For Saints, Travis Belgrave scored a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
GTI beat Bishops’ High 51-40 with Nathan Saul adding 16 points and Kelvin Griffith 12 points and eight rebounds, and Roger John eight points and 11 rebounds. For Bishops’ High, Timothy Thompson had nine points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, in the U-14 Category, St. Stanislaus College defeated Bishops’ High 15-11 as Jarell Troyer scored seven points and Nathan Hackett grabbed 12 rebounds. For Bishops’, Timothy Richmond scored six points.
Marian thrashed Tutorial High 55-19 with Jether Harris scoring 17 points, Corey Graham 14 points and 10 rebounds and Tyrese James six points and six rebounds. For Tutorial, Jaden Moses had 10 points and four rebounds.
President’s College then whipped Plaisance Secondary 50-5 with Lamon Friday scoring15 points and Akinyelle Derrell eight points. Ishmael Chapman had five points and four rebounds for Plaisance.
St. Roses High defeated Queens College by walk-over.
The Tournament is sponsored by Digicel Guyana, Edward B. Beharry (Champion) and Company Ltd and Banks DIH LTD (Powerade). The NSBF Regional Semis and Finals will be contested in all divisions, June 25-26 at the Sports Hall.
