Canje Secondary used the wet conditions to flood Overwinning with 20-0 devastation as play in the Digicel Schools Football Championship continued yesterday, at Burnham Park in Berbice.
The Canje team showed no mercy for their pint-sized opponent as they fired in six goals by the break, before resuming their carnage in the second period where they hammered in a further fourteen goals to pile on misery on a hapless Overwinning side.
Shane Hamilton led the onslaught with 10 goals in the seventh, 10th, 15st, 35th, 51st, 55th, 60th, 61st, 68th and 68th minutes, while Jermaine King hit in six goals in the 13th, 42nd, 64th, 66th, 69th and 75th minutes.
Marlock Davis added a brace in the fifth and 46th minutes, while Alade Grant and Edmond White completed the tally with strikes in the 24th and 72nd minutes respectively.
Action in the Championship is set to continue today from 15:30hrs at several venues across the country.
The championship which will be played in the usual knockout format will be staged in every region and concludes on July 31st at the National Stadium in Providence.Christianburg/Wismar Secondary is the four time defending champions.
The winning school will take home $1,000,000 toward the funding of a school project and the Championship trophy, while the second, third and fourth placed finishers will collect $700,000, $400,000 and $350,000 respectively to go towards projects of their choice.
Each zone winner will receive $100,000.
