Dear Editor,
June 7 , 2016 marks the 10 year anniversary of the rape and murder a poor but promising girl named Roshnie Pertab Singh. This occurred at No. 19 village on the Corentyne in Berbice. To date, to my knowledge, not a single person has served time in prison for her murder. The death of this B.E.I. student has stuck in my craw since these cowards chose to violate her in this cruel manner. I’m determined that the life of a poor girl from a small village must mean something. She’s not going to be raped and snuffed out with no one remembering her. I didn’t know her personally but spoke to teachers who knew her and villagers who knew her since a baby. I’m told by villagers that people in the village know the men who did this to her. Every time I see a little girl in a village my thoughts run on Roshnie. I do hope some caring detective or officer would take this up as a personal quest to get to the bottom of who did this to her. Justice has to be done for poor Roshnie a.k.a. Indira.
