It has the distinction of being labeled one of the most popular venues to host the sport of Dominoes and this Saturday Turning Point Sports Club situated in East La Penitence is expected to come alive when Mark ‘Jumbie’ Wiltshire
host a tournament in memory of the late Jermaine ‘Bruk Up’ McLeod, starting at 15:00 hrs.
Wiltshire, who is one of the most prolific organisers of the sport, has teamed up with All Seasons Racing Service of Robb Street to stage the two-day event in recognition of the passing of McLeod, a former ardent player and supporter of the sport.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday, Wiltshire said the tournament is an entry free one that will be played over two days and roll call of teams will be done from 14:30 hrs with the anticipated start at 15:00 hrs, adding that teams that fail to meet the deadline will be required to pay an entrance fee.
He disclosed that the winning team will receive $100,000 and the championship trophy, while second and third placed teams take home $40,000 and $20,000 respectively.
According to the organiser, all the Guyana National Domino Association rules will be in place and teams are being warned that there will be strictly no tolerance of indecent language or smoking in the venue.
He also informed that one re-entry will be allowed.
Stichie One-Man Band will be in attendance and Bar-B-Cue and drinks will be on sale throughout the day.
