With the aim of improving the standard of umpiring, the Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (GCUSA) on Wednesday hosted an interactive session which included several international umpires at

The session which saw the attendance of Nandkumar Shivsankar and Shannon Crawford (first class umpires) attending was facilitated by International Cricket Council Umpire Coach David Levens who is responsible for the West Indies, Australia and New Zealand, ICC Elite Umpire Richard Illingworth, West Indies International panel umpires Guyanese Nigel Duguid, Joel Wilson of Trinidad and Tobago and Gregory Braithwaite of Barbados.
The local umpires benefitted from the knowledge and experience shared by their international counterparts as questions were asked in relation to competition regulations and the laws of cricket.
In an invited comment, Duguid said the GCUSA has embarked on this exercise so that it will help to improve young local umpires. He added that this venture will continue when international umpires visit Guyana while thanking his colleagues.
