All roads lead to the Victoria ground on the East Coast of Demerara when the Mayor’s Cup football tournament continues this Sunday June 5 with two potentially captivating encounters. Victoria Kings, the champion team on the ECD will lock horns with the champions of Linden, Federal Winners Connection in a highly anticipated clash.
The tournament has produced some exciting duels and is now down to the last 16 teams with approximately 8 days of riveting football on the cards. Thereafter, the successful teams will enter into the quarter finals and then the semi-finals in order to determine which team plays for the top prize of $700,000 and a trophy.
The second place team pockets $300,000 while the third and fourth place teams cart off $200,000 and $100,000 respectively. The organizers are indeed grateful for the sponsorship packages donated by several entities the likes of Aruwai Resorts, Ansa McAl, John Fernandes and Minister of State Joseph Harmon. The Government of Guyana has also rendered support as has Macorp, Busta, Cummings Electrical, Bakewell, IPA, China Trading, E-Networks, NAMILCO and BK International. The action gets underway at 18:00hrs sharp.
