As part of its observance of the International Internal Audit Awareness Month, the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) recently conducted a brief ceremony at its Headquarters, Camp Street where Internal Auditors of the agency were provided with tokens and reminded by Acting Commissioner-General, Ingrid Griffith, of their roles and functions, as well as their importance to the Agency as a whole.
According to GRA, it was noted that internal audit professionals play an important role in raising awareness and elevating the profession, whether they are actively involved, new to the field, part of an extensive audit team, or sole practitioners at the agency.
Special guest in attendance and Governor of the Board at the Institute of Internal Auditors, Guyana Chapter, John Seeram, reminded the auditors at the ceremony about the importance of on-the- job training to boost their professional skills as he underscored the efforts GRA had been notably making to ensure its auditors were consistently trained.
Meanwhile, Manager of the Internal Audit Division, Reishad Khan, urged that internal auditors at the agency always ensure confidentiality of information at their disposal. They were also reminded that conflict of interest was something they would need to avoid at all times. International Internal Audit Awareness Month is observed annually in May.
