Murder is suspected in the deaths of a 37-year-old Guyanese woman and her 10-year-old daughter, whose bodies were found in a Paramaribo, Suriname house last Tuesday.
A report out of Suriname identified the victims as Leelawattie Sookhoo and daughter, Tisha Ahtram. They are suspected to have been slain by a 22-year-old man, who has since disappeared.
According to the report, a neighbour, Stacy Harris, said that the man, Sookhoo and her daughter had visited her home on Monday, but nothing seemed to be amiss.
The man reportedly moved to the area three months ago, while Sookhoo and her daughter moved into the same house about a month ago.
According to the neighbour, the killing may have stemmed from jealousy, since the suspect was upset that Sookhoo’s ex-husband had visited her recently. The ex-husband reportedly spoke to Sookhoo on her mobile phone on Monday.
