Linden Alphonso and Ronald Grogan donated a quantity of boxing gear to junior boxers, Akea Lamazon, Omar Pollard and Duel Augustine of Victory Valley’s Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym in Linden recently for their outstanding
performances.
The three boxers won gold medals at the recently held National Junior box-off and are currently in training for a tour to Suriname. In addition to the athletes, Coach, Orlan Rogers also benefitted from a donation from the benevolent Linden duo.
The presentation was a follow-up to the boxing equipment that the US-based individuals donated in November last year.
“As former Victory Valley residents we appreciate the efforts that they put in on a daily basis. We know what it means to not have and we see this as a perfect opportunity to give back to our community and help maintain our strong boxing tradition,” Alphonso said.
They informed that it is such support that produced the likes of Terrence, Jestus Craig, Conrad Wilson, Colin Douglas and Pocket Rocket Coach, Rogers.
The boxers, who all attend Secondary Schools in Linden, were reminded that academia is just as important as sports, hence the need to stay in school.
