Star Party Rental became the latest entity to offer support to the Petra Organisation-organised Soft Shoe Football Competition which is set to open on Monday, at the Ministry of Health ground on Brickdam and Vlissingen Road.
At a simple presentation at the company’s Craig Street Campbellville location yesterday, representative of the entity Tressita Greaves handed a cheque for an undisclosed sum to Petra Organisation’s Mark Alleyne in the presence of Director Troy Mendonca and Manager of Star Party Rentals Trenton Griffith.
The event which has as its theme ‘Stop Gender-based Violence’ will see twenty-four community-based teams in Georgetown battle for $700,000 in total prize monies with the winning team set to receive $300,000, runner-up $200,000, 3rd place $100,000 and 4th place $50,000 along with trophies.
The main sponsor is the Ministry of Health, while other entities that have pledged support include Busta, GTT, Lucky Dollar, Nigel’s Supermarket, Junior’s Jewelry, Star Party Rental and 2 J’s General Store.
Speaking at the occasion, Mendonca thanked Star Party Rentals for its continued support to the Organisation, adding that the entity has always responded positively to their request and yesterday’s gesture was another clear example of such.
Greaves speaking on behalf of the entity said she was heartened by the fact that the focus will be on sensitising participants on the scourge of gender-based violence with the aim of reducing or possibly eradicating what has become a national affliction.
