Latest results of action in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) STAG Elite League Finale held on Wednesday last at National Track and Field Facility, Leonora, show contrasting results with one match being investigated.
The double-header featured Slingerz FC vs Buxton United FC in the first game and Alpha United FC vs Pele FC in the second.
Slingerz overcame Buxton United 3-1 through strikes by Trayon Bobb in the 37th and 45th (+1) and Domini Garnett in the 75th, while Rondell Assanah in the 38th minute made the lone response for Buxton. Jamaal A. Booker (55’) (Buxton United FC) was sent off for violent conduct.
The second contest saw Alpha United FC leading Pele FC 2-0 with an Own goal (19) and Daniel Wilson (26) accounting for their tally in an ill-tempered affair. Pele’s Gregory Richardson (25’) was sent off for using abusive language to referee and Omario Williams (27’) was also expelled for using threatening language to the referee. The official eventually awarded the win to Alpha United as a result of Pele’s refusal to continue the game in the 27th minute when a second member of the Pele team was Red Carded. The GFF has initiated and investigation into the on-field incident and a ruling would be made shortly.
More play is set for tomorrow, Sunday, from 18:00hrs at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora. Buxton United will challenge Alpha United in the opening encounter, while the second contest pits Monedderlust against Slingerz.
