Transport & Harbours Department won the Trophy Stall Work place eight-over Tapeball knockout cricket tournament which was organised by James ‘Kool’ Lewis and formed a part of Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations which
was held last Sunday at the National Culture Centre Tarmac.
In the Final of the eight-team competition, Transport defeated Namilco by 10 wickets after reaching 75 from 7.4 overs without loss replying to Namilco’s 73-5 off their eight overs.
Man-of-the-Finals Sheldon Chapman (39) and Damon Whitney (36) batted without any worries to cruise to a commanding victory with two balls to spare.
In the semis, Transport advanced to the final after reaching 51-6 off six overs in reply to the 48 made by Demerara Bank Ltd, while Namilco beat the Felix Austin Training College by five wickets.
Felix Austin’s Jason McCalmont made the highest score in the playoff stage with a confident 38 in a losing cause.
In the preliminary rounds Demerara Bank got the better of GuyOil, Transport got past Guyana Energy Authority, Namilco defeated EPA and Felix Austin beat Forestry Commission.
