A 17-year-old girl is in a critical condition after delivering a baby at the Georgetown Public Hospital for her father yesterday.
The teen, who was 28 weeks pregnant, was rushed to the hospital after she started experiencing pains in her stomach. She reportedly suffered a ruptured artery because of the tension of the pregnancy, and was taken into surgery for a C-Section.
According to a health official, the teen was in a critical condition after the baby was delivered and so “remains brain dead” in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. The baby is also in a critical state.
The source indicated that the teen, who resides in Mahaicony, Berbice, was impregnated by her father and was still attending school. She was preparing to write her Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examination later this month.
