Yesterday, in the boardroom of the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue, Public Relations Officer of GBTI (Guyana Bank of Trade and Industry) Mrs. Pamela Binda, presented a number of tokens for Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The recipient was Minister within the Ministry of Education, Ms Nicolette Henry.
Mrs. Binda stated that GBTI is “proud to be joining with the Ministry to be a part of Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.”
“It is a time for all Guyanese to celebrate, reflect and inspire.
“We are looking towards a strong partnership with GBTI as we move forward,” stated Minister Henry as she thanked GBTI on behalf of the government and the people of Guyana.
Shortly after GBTI’s presentation a representative from Republic Bank Guyana, Managing Director of the New Market Street branch, Richard Sammy, was on hand to present a cheque to Minister Henry.
Republic Bank donated some $4.5 million to the Ministry; with $3.5 million going to the Steel Pan competition in February this year.
A further $1 million is going towards the “Pan on the Walls” concert slated for May 21.
Sammy noted, “Republic Bank is pleased to be associated with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture. We are extremely happy to be supporting Guyana’s jubilee celebrations.”
Minister Nicolette Henry stated that the government is thankful for Republic Bank’s sizable contribution. She added that the ministry is very appreciative of Republic Bank’s partnership in regards to Guyana’s Jubilee celebrations.
