Dear Editor,
When President David Granger was caught saying that he is “satisfied that Harmon’s conduct was above board during the China trip”, my first reaction was – here we go again, Donald Ramotar part 2. That is exactly what Granger is shaping up to be; the accidental president part 2. No different from Ramotar.
What is clear is that his longstanding friendship with Harmon and this brotherhood of military men that surround him will further cause Guyana to retrogress economically, socially and politically. How dare President Granger in trying to pull wool over the people’s eyes by thinking he can rubber stamp the conduct of the Minister who was in close association with business people who have done very little good for Guyana. All these people whom Minister Harmon is in close association with have done was exploit Guyana and plunder it for their own selfish end and made billions of dollars in the process. Why should the people not be concerned that the Minister went to China with his small business cabal?
As a citizens of Guyana, I am not satisfied that the conduct of the Minister and not because Granger “seh suh – is suh”. The credibility President Granger had on the 2015 campaign trail is all lost and he is nothing but the new Donald Ramotar and therefore I do not have to trust him or believe him since all his promises made to me when I listened to him in Whim, were broken. He sold us Berbicians out.
He promised me personal security for all of us Berbicians; he did not provide it. Actually he place the wrong man in charge of Public Security. He promised us jobs but then he told our rice farmers that rice is a private sector affair. Even Burnham treated our rice farmers as partners in a public/private arrangement by offering them tremendous amount of government support. But Granger and his Minister of Agriculture told the rice farmers not to plant with their Georgetown/military attitude, with no clue of the rice sector operates. This clearly illustrates, this man is either aloof or out to lunch or asleep on the real issues facing the rice industry.
It is not proper behavior for a Minister to be personally directing officials from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) not to seize two luxury vehicles belonging to a company which ferried him around China in a private plane. Such public behaviour reflects poor judgement and poor taste and can only be done by someone who is totally stupid or totally compromised .
So in trying to pull wool over our eyes, all President Granger has done is cashier what little credibility he had and therefore is shaping up well into a one term President; Another Donald Ramotar.
