Six mothers had a special reason to celebrate Mother’s Day, after welcoming their healthy new born babies into the world.
Kaieteur News spent yesterday afternoon in the Maternity Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) to share the excitement with the mothers.
Out of the six babies delivered, two were girls. Just around 13:00hrs, Alexis Boucher gave birth to baby Aaron. He is her third child.
When this newspaper visited, Boucher was lying on her bed admiring her baby boy. She spoke briefly about her labour experience and exclaimed that she was proud of herself. A few beds away from Boucher was first-time mother, 22-year-old Charie Crandon.
Crandon related that she had no idea of what to expect during her pregnancy. As she sat holding her baby, Crandon recalled that baby Jahiem St. Louis was born around 08:30 hrs yesterday. She recalled that she was rushed to the hospital early yesterday morning and went straight into delivery.
According to the mother, she had already picked out a name for her baby, since she learnt about the gender. Crandon stated that she is filled with excitement and vowed to be there in every step of her son’s life.
Twenty three-year-old Scheneka Bob-Semple delivered her baby girl minutes after midnight. This first-time mother related that she is
excited about entering motherhood, although she had not yet decided on a name for her daughter.
All in all, the proud mothers went through a gamut of reactions as they expressed their excitement, joy and gratitude.
The mothers all received warm wishes from hospital staff, relatives and friends, and from several other mothers who were waiting to give birth.
Kaieteur News understands that out of the six babies born, one was delivered by caesarian section.
