Just less than ten days remain, before local dragsters along with their foreign counterparts’ sqaure off in a battle for supremacy in the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) ‘Golden Jubilee’ International
Drag Race Meet, at the South Dakota Circuit.
According to a source close to the Club, the event which will have dragsters eighteen (18) dragsters from Suriname is expected to provide exhilarating action throughout the day as the locals try to represent home turf against the anticipated strong foreign invasion with the promise of existing records being shattered in the process.
Anand Ramchand, who is a multiple times champion will be competing in four categories with a similar amount of cars and his Team Wrecker outfit is expected to lead the local charge for supremacy against a Surinamese contingent bent on upstaging the Guyanese on home soil.
Ramchand will be depending on support from Rondell Daby’s lightening fast Evolution, always a treat to watch and is said to be in fantastic condition and rearing to get on the track. The other big names expected to represent the ‘Land of Many Waters are Peter Daby, Danny Persaud and Sanjay Persaud.
Additionally, race fans for the first time have the opportunity to witness the Porta Tree Timing System which is equipped with specialized starting lights that allow quarter mile speeds to be recorded.
Races commence at 09:00hrs and admission for adults is $1000, $500 children, while children under-12 and vehicles are free.
