Hits and Jamz entertainment owners, Rawle Ferguson, Dwidth Ferguson and Kerwin Bollers were charged before the City’s court yesterday for failing to pay NIS on behalf of their employee’s for five years.
The Court heard that the men who run the TV station in Crown Street, Queenstown, Georgetown, are accused of failing to produce records of wages and contributions scheduling at the National Insurance Scheme building from the period January 2011 to December 2015 when they were required to do so by Tisha McCalmon, a NIS inspector duly authorised officer of the NIS board.
DJ Dwidth Ferguson was not present to answer to the joint charge as he is said to be out of the country. However, the power house entertainers of HJTV Rawle Ferguson and Kerwin Bollers both denied the allegation.
Magistrate Faith McGusty placed the men on self-bail and ordered them to make their next court appearance on June 1. The magistrate then advised them to go sort things out at the NIS office on Brickdam and Winter Place, Georgetown.
After signing their recognisance the men exited the courtroom and spoke to reporters outside. “it’s all a misunderstanding” they both said. They said when they laid off some employees in 2011, they had contacted them to produce certain documents but the former employees were uncooperative. Nevertheless they claimed that they started to pay the money that was owed to the governmental agency, regardless since they had already filed for it to be done, however for some reason they slapped them with the charges.
