Richard Latif struck a half century to guide Regal to a seven-wicket victory over Wolf’s Warriors when the
Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association/Wolf’s Challenge 20-over tournament continued on Sunday last.
Playing in the open category at Cyril Potter College of Education ground, Latif scored an unbeaten 66 and got valuable support from Sachin Singh 38 as Regal, chasing 154 finished on 160-3 in 16.4 overs. Ricky Sergeant and Safraz Karim made 32 each for Wolf’s Warriors who had earlier lost eight wickets.
Regal defeated LOL Woodworking by four wickets. LOL Woodworking managed 161-5, taking first knock with Jagdesh Deosarran scoring 71. Regal got to 164-6 in 18.3 overs in reply. Patrick Rooplall made 36 and Marvin Bobb 24.
In the Masters division, Regal beat Wolf’s Warriors by 86 runs. Regal scored 176-6, batting first. Raymond Harper made 49 and Longsford Klass 28. Wolf’s Warriors were sent packing for 90 in 12.2 overs in reply. Laurie Singh bagged 5-12.
At Carifesta Sports Complex, Parika Defenders overcame Enterprise Legends by four wickets. Enterprise batted first and mustered 115-9. Asif Ahmad claimed 4-19. Defenders responded with 118-6 in 14 overs. V. Kissoon got 35; Seemangal Yadram snared 3-17.
Superior Woods got the better of H.S Masters by 35 runs. Superior Woods took first strike and rattled up 189-6. S. Kumar made 31 and Mark Fung 29; S. Samaroo claimed 3-12, R. Persaud 2-26 and M. Ifill 3-31. H.S Masters were limited to 154-9 in response. Samaroo made 41, Clyde Hoyte 29 and R. Persaud 26; D. Mohabir took 2-15 and Fung 2-30. Fisherman Masters beat Savage Masters in their encounter.
The competition continues this Sunday at Carifesta Sports Complex ground with Albion Masters playing Wellman at 10:00hrs and Savage Masters facing Enterprise Legends at 12:30hrs on pitch one.
On pitch two 4R Lioness will take on Blue Divas at 10:30hrs and Wellwoman will battle Enterprise Divas at 12:30hrs. On pitch three, Wolf’s Warriors Masters will take on Fisherman Masters and at 10:30 hrs and Tropical Springs will play Parika Defenders at 12:30hrs.
