Heavy overnight and early morning showers at the Wales Community Centre ground resulted in flooded areas on the Western and Eastern boundaries and bowlers’ run up that were left uncovered in contravention to
the tournament’s playing conditions.
This resulted in the opening day’s play of the third and final round in the GCB’s Hand-in-Hand three-day Inter-County U-19 being called off at Lunch. The Koker had been opened from as early as 08:00hrs yesterday, the sun never came out and conditions remained overcast with large pools of water remaining on the playing area well into the afternoon.
A prompt 09:30hrs start today looks bleak especially without a water pump being available to the ground staff.
