A welder was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of murder.
Kenkassie Lynch, 21, of 110 CC Eccles, East Bank Demerara, is alleged to have killed mechanic Terrence Lanferman
on June 1, 2015 at his Lot 27 Nelson Street, Mocha Arcadia home.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Bharrat Mangru, told the court that on the day in question, around 19:30 hrs, gunshots were heard coming from Lanferman’s home. He said that after the shots ceased, the mechanic’s lifeless body was found on the floor, with several gunshot wounds.
The prosecutor said that Lanferman was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. According to Mangru, the accused confessed to the crime.
Police investigations are complete and Magistrate Fabayo Azore set June 1 for the commencement of a preliminary inquiry.
According to reports, Lynch was arrested last Wednesday and reportedly confessed to police that he and his cousin plotted the crime. Lanferman was shot dead by a lone gunman who had come and knocked at his door. At the time of the shooting, Lanferman was the only person at home in the bottom flat of the two-storey house he shared with his mother. He sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.
