During yesterday’s opening of bids at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) there were bids for the rehabilitation and construction of roads under the miscellaneous roads project, in Region Three. This project is being executed by the Ministry of Public Infrastructure.
The bidding was done in lots, and the engineer’s estimates ran as follows; for lot six, $136.7M; lot seven, $46M. And the estimate for the third and final lot, number eight, was $16.9M.
Also under the MPI, there were bids for the rehabilitation of the No. 66 steel truss bridge at Corentyne, Region Six. The engineer’s estimate was $31.1M.
There were also bids to supply beds at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In a recent, highly publicized incident, a woman and her baby were photographed on the floor of the maternity ward. This incident served to highlight the fact that for years, the GPHC has had to contend with a bed shortage.
Bidders also vied for a contract to provide security services at the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) registration offices in Region one, two, seven, eight and nine, for 2016.
Under the Ministry of the Presidency‘s Department of Public Service, there was a similar security service contract.
Under the Ministry of Public Health, there was also a contract for the printing and delivery of brochures, posters and clinic aides.
For the Ministry of Public Security, there was a contract for consultants who would design an institutional and operational framework for a communications and information command centre. This would be for the Guyana Police Force.
And finally, under the National Parks Commission, there was a contract to rehabilitate a fence at the Botanical Gardens. The engineer’s estimate was $13M.
