The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) in collaboration with its corporate sponsor Digicel is hosting its third tournament for 2016 with the staging of the Ansa Mc Al Lucuzade Handicap Squash Tournament at the Georgetown Club Inc courts. The tournament commenced last evening and runs until Saturday evening.
As usual there will be two categories with the better skilled players participating in the Open Category and the lesser skilled and younger players participating in Category A. This year almost fifty players have signed up to participate in the two categories.
Defending champion in the Open category is Peter Michael De Groot who starts with a handicap of -10, while some of the other top ranked players in that category are Raphael De Groot -12, Ashley Khalil -3, Javed Rahaman -1, Alec Melville 0 and Ashley De Groot +3.
In Category A top ranked players are Ethan Jonas, Lucas Jonas, Demetrius De Abreu, Madison Fernandes, Aliyah Persaud, Michael Alphonso and Abosaide Cadogan,
All matches are best of three and action starts each evening at 6.00 pm. The finals of all the categories are set for April 23 starting at 6.00 pm.
