In an effort to have maximum participation in the 50th Independence Anniversary Horserace Meet the organisers of the event – the “Four Horse Men Promotion” has added another race the to the programme.
Instead of seven races the event will now be an eight race one with the stakes jumping up to close to $10.5M in cash, trophies and other incentives.
Dubbed “The 50th Independence Anniversary Horserace clash”, the event is slated for Sunday 22nd May at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.
The event for three year old Guyana bred and J and lower horses with a winners take of $200,000 and trophy over 1200M, has now been divided into two to cater separately for the three year old Guyana Bred animals and the J and lower horses.
Massive preparation is being undertaken to make the venue up to scratch and in the best of shape for the signature event which is expected to be a mega affair. All the top horses in the country are expected to be a part of the day’s activity.
The full list will now see- The feature event will be for horses classified A’ and lower with a lucrative first prize of $1.5M and the 50th Independence Anniversary Cup from a total package of close to $2.8M over a grueling 1900M.
The other events listed are the 1400M event for D3 Maiden and E and Lower horses for the $750,000 and trophy.
The F and lower 1200M race fetches the winner $320,000 and trophy.
The three year old event for West Indies Bred and G3 and lower horses for a winners take of $350,000 and trophy over 1200M.
The H3 Maiden and I and lower 1000M race has a winning pocket of $250,000 and trophy
There is an event for three year old Guyana bred horses for a winners take of $200,000 and trophy over 1200M.
The horses classified J and lower will now have an opportunity to compete for winner’s take of $200,000 and trophy with the distance being 1200M.
The final event is for horses classified K and L and lower over 1200M event has a pole position taking of $170,000 and trophy.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Trophy Stall and the organizers.
The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
