Chinkoo grabs 5
Essequibo romped to an innings and 60-run victory over Berbice when the opening round of the Guyana Cricket Board/Hand-in-Hand inter county U19 three-day tournament concluded yesterday at Enterprise.

Keemo Paul accepts his man-of-the-match prize from Hand-in-Hand Marketing Representative Chandranie Karran.
Apart from steady bowling by the Essequibians who were smartly led by Keemo Paul, poor shot selection and the lack of eagerness to occupy the crease resulted in Berbice being bowled out for 93 in both innings.
Off-spinner Looknauth Chinkoo was the main destroyer- he picked up five second innings scalps to finish the game with 8-74.
In reply to Essequibo first innings total of 248, Berbice began the final day on 71-5 and lost their remaining wickets for 22 runs in the first session. Matthew Hardial added one to his overnight score before he was caught by wicket-keeper Nathan Persaud off Akenie Adams for 33. Paul then bowled Seenarine Sookdeo (01) while Chinkoo sent back Ritesh Umroa (04) and Nicholas Seenarine (00) before Paul uprooted the stumps of Sylus Tyndall (02) to give his team a lead of 153. Paul bagged 4-13, Adams 3-14 and Chinkoo 3-39.
Essequibo decided to enforce the follow the on, and fifteen year-old fast bowler Reyaz Khan (1-9) who impressed with his pace provided his team with the breakthrough when he induced Adrian Sukwah (06) to nick one behind- Paul standing at third slip completed the catch after the ball rebounded from the keeper.
Ritesh Umroa got to 11 before he was run out in a terrible mix up to leave Berbice at 32-2. Chinkoo then trapped Hardial lbw for three while Brandon Prasad (00) lofted the said bowler to mid off as Berbice went to lunch at 36-4.
After the interval the pacy Paul disturbed the stumps of Joel Seetaram who played across to a good length ball; he went for 18 (2×4). Chinkoo, Adams and man-of-the-match Paul then combined to bowl out Berbice well before tea. Only Tyndall (11) of the remaining batsmen managed double figures as Chinkoo grabbed 5-35, Adams 2-12 and Paul 1-18.
Scores: Essequibo 246 (Keemo Paul 85, Akenie Adams 32, Siddique Mohamed 21* Asif Ally 4-88, Brandon Prasad 2-25, Joel Seetaram 2-63). Berbice 93 all out (Mathew Hardial 33, Paul 4-13, Adams 3-14, Chinkoo 3-39) and 93 all out (Seeteram 18, Chinkoo 5-35, Adams 2-12).
