A Guyhoc Park resident who police say was found with an unlicensed firearm and live rounds was yesterday remanded to prison after he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Gilbert Oudkerk, 49, of Q 77 Guyhoc Park Georgetown was not required to plead to the charge against him when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Oudkerk is charged with having in his possession a .9mm firearm pistol when he is not the holder of a firearm licence on April 2 at Turtle Creek, Mazaruni River Back Dam, Essequibo. The father of two is also charged with having on the same day, eight live .9mm rounds of ammunition, when he is not licensed to do so.
Making an appearance for the defendant, Attorney-at-Law Mark Waldron asked for an early date to commence his client’s trial. The Magistrate then refused the defendant bail and had the matter transferred to Bartica Magistrate’s Court on April 20.
