Transport Sports Club (TSC) grabbed first innings points from Diplomats when the Georgetown Cricket
Association/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament continued yesterday.
TSC decided to bat at Bourda and lost opener Mark Ramsammy who was removed by Saif Razak for 13 before Adrian Hinds and Sunil Singh added 35 for the second wicket. Razak then accounted for Singh (23), while Shawn Hughes bowled Owen Andrews for eight as TSC found themselves in some difficulty. However, Hinds and Devaughn Nandan shared in a fourth wicket partnership of 45 to boost their batting fairly. The fifteen-year old Hinds struck four fours in a run-a-ball 40 while Nandan made 45 with seven fours and two sixes.
Rickford Mohamed fine showing with the ball in the tournament continued as he picked up a few quick wickets to give Diplomats the advantage, but former National U19 pacer Keon Morris and Akeem Redmond fought back with an eight-wicket partnership of 53. Morris slammed eight fours to remain unbeaten on 55 which came off 37 balls, while Redmond was dismissed for 34 (3×4,1×6) as TSC declared on 251-9. Mohamed claimed 4-35 while Razak had 2-38.
Diplomats reply were off to a terrible start as they were reduced to 20-4 and despite a fighting 52 from E. Munessar they were sent packing for 98. Raphael Singh was the pick of the bowlers with 3-25 while Joshua Wilson had 2-24.
Batting a second time, TSC were 59-1 at stumps, extending their advantage to 212. Adrian Hinds went for nine, while Singh is on 30 and Wilson on 17.
