The Guyana Police Force has many roles to play and despite many challenges has been trying to fulfill their mandate in their quest to make Guyana a better place.
Of recent the GPF in the various divisions has not been shirking from their responsibilities of being good co-operate citizen and has upped the ante in their social and community relationship and doing things differently.
The police in the Berbice B Division have been in the forefront of the force’s community outreach programme. Led by Commander, Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam, Deputy Commander, Senior Superintendent Errol Watts, and divisional Officers of the three Police subdivisions- Superintendent Linden Isles, Deputy Superintendent Guy Nurse and Assistant Superintendent Joshua Harvey John and Community Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Keith Williams, the division has been setting a tremendous pace for the others to follow.
Following the successful staging of a cycle road race in collaboration with the Flying Ace Cycle club (FACC) on the Corentyne highway two Sundays ago, the two entities are at it again.
This time they will be staging a 28 miles cycle road race tomorrow. The event, which is for cyclists of The FACC, is set to pedal off at 09:00 hrs from Tacama Turn, New Amsterdam. The riders will proceed along the New Amsterdam, Canje and Corentyne Highways to the Independence Arch at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, before turning back to finish at the junction of Main and Alexander Street.
A number of prizes are up for grabs including the first four finishers, first two U16s, the first three females. There are also eight sprint point prizes up for grabs. (Samuel Whyte)
