EBFA / Ralph Green U-11 League – Semis
Even at this developmental stage of their lives, players have been showing tremendous skills in the East Bank Football Association / Ralph Green sponsored Under-11 league which has reached the semi finals stage.
Today at the Grove Playfield the final four teams will be going after each other for a place in next Saturday’s final at the same venue. The surprise package of the competition so far has been the Friendship All Stars team which is playing in its first tournament and is the only unbeaten team so far.
In their first competitive match under the EBFA umbrella they defeated defending champions Herstelling Raiders 2-0 and went on to earn a walk over from Agricola in their second game on their way to topping Group B and a place in the semis against Craig School which ended as the runner up team in Group A.
Craig School are no stranger to junior East Bank football but this is the first time they have reached this far and will be relishing their match-up with Friendship today in the feature game.
Opening play at 10:15hrs brings together Grove Hi Tech and Agricola Red Triangle. The former topped Group A following a win and a draw, while the latter advanced on account of two drawn matches against Grove and Diamond United.
At stake in next week’s final is the Ralph Green Lien trophy along with five individual trophies that will go to the Highest Goal Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player and Most Promising Player.
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three teams while the fourth place side will receive participatory medals. Every player in the six team tournament will receive a Certificate of Participation.
