Three clubs were this week the recipients of cricket gears compliments of the Guyana
UK Sports Development Association.
The Chairwoman of the UK based organization, Roselyn Shepherd, who is in Guyana on vacation, handed over the gears to representatives of the Mackenzie Sports Club, Christianburg Community Centre and Speightland.
Speaking during a simple ceremony at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Mrs. Shepherd stressed the commitment of her organization GUSDA to the development of youth and sports in Guyana and of Guyanese in the UK. The GUSDA she said is a charitable voluntary organisation founded in 1995. The gears were sponsored by Orman Griffith on behalf of his US based mother Beryl Griffith who commemorated her 100th birthday yesterday, March 31, 2016.
The newly elected constituency representatives of constituency 2, 3 & 6 Mr. Lennox Gasper, Mr. Leroy James, Mr. Keeran Williams and Mr. Carwyn Holland who were instrumental in securing the items from GUSDA for the clubs who were all present. Accompanying Mrs. Shepherd was former world weightlifting champion Herman Nurse, a Guyanese who represented England and became world champion.
